Read on to see the characteristics of Generalized Anxiety Disorder and learn about our treatment and please contact us if you have any more questions.

Characteristics

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (often called GAD) is characterized by excessive worry and anxiety that is difficult to control. Most individuals with Generalized Anxiety Disorder have at least three of the symptoms below on most days (lasting for at least six months):

  • Feeling restless or "on edge"
  • Getting easily fatigued
  • Having difficulty concentrating
  • Irritability
  • Muscle tension
  • Difficulty sleeping

Effective Solutions

General Anxiety Disorder is treated by teaching individuals effective cognitive tools and relaxation techniques that help them better manage their anxiety.

  • Clients are taught how to cope with stress and worry through mindfulness, muscle relaxation, breathing techniques, and Biofeedback.
  • Cognitive therapy techniques are used to help clients examine how thoughts and feelings impact each other. Clients learn how to decrease their anxiety by creating cognitive challenges to counter the most frequent worries.
